Tri-Miasmatic Materia Medica

3.1) Tri-Miasmatic Materia Medica

Another essential point is the tri-miasmatic classification of a remedy, which bears some similarity to Masi (1993) and Ortega (1986) regarding some points. Vijayakar specified and elaborated it further.

If it is clear, for example, that Ignatia tends to be hysterical in the syphilitic miasm, and ambitious, slender, lenient and obedient in psora, this understanding extends our knowledge of the range of a single remedy. This is a complete enrichment for the homeopath when it comes to understanding how a remedy "should be". It shows why portraits of remedies often have such different, and sometimes contradictory aspects. This becomes even clearer with Phosphorus when you know that it can be compassionate and loving in psora and alienated from the family in its syphilitic state.
